CFW Website Rules passed - July 13, 2010

Colorado Four Wheelers Internet Decorum

Welcome to Colorado Four Wheelers! We hope you enjoy your stay here. If you are new to the community, please take a moment to read through the following list of rules and sanctions regarding this forum. Members that have been here a while may want to read through this also, just to make sure nothing has been added that they may have missed. If you have a question or concern, feel free to send one of the moderators a private message (PM).

By using this web site, you agree to be contacted by site administration, regardless of your account settings, when it becomes necessary to do so, regarding your account activity.

We have a very active moderation team and a lot of members who will remind you of the rules should you not stick to them.

1. Feel free to “lurk and listen”. While we hope that you'll become an active participant and join in our discussions, you're welcome, of course, to simply hang out silently until you feel more comfortable posting a message.

2. When newcomers arrive, say "hi" and welcome them to our growing community. Many of our community's "old timers" (regardless of age) are a wealth of knowledge and have much to share. Help new folks "learn the ropes" about how to find information and resources, save time, and how to get involved with our growing membership. Remember to give patience to new members as they explore the forums. Being rude to new members is highly discouraged.

3. Keep your posts, avatars and signatures tasteful. The forums of Coloradofourwheelers.org are a place for PG material only. Explicit, obscene or vulgar gestures, language, GIFs, JPEGs or other graphic files are NOT appropriate. Message board titles, posts, avatars, and signatures in all forums that contain anything that is not considered PG material will not be tolerated and will be moved or deleted without notice! The enforcement and definition of PG is solely the responsibility of the Administrators and Moderators.

4. Coloradofourwheelers.org reserves the right to remove any post that does not relate to the topic being discussed or is considered inappropriate on the board. In addition, Coloradofourwheelers.org reserves the right to organize message boards (or folders) in order to best serve the majority of our members. For example, narrow-interest or minimal activity topics may, at Coloradofourwheelers.org‘s discretion, be relocated to a more appropriate forum, or deleted entirely. Coloradofourwheelers.org also reserves the right to prohibit or delete messages that are thought to violate applicable law or that may be harmful to other members, or the rights of Coloradofourwheelers.org or others.

5. We also reserve the right to remove your Coloradofourwheelers.org membership should you violate its rules or should we deem necessary. Any decision to ban a member for abuse of any of these rules, or for whatever reason, will be made by the administrative team.

FORUM RULES

No flaming, trolling, spamming, or bullying! Keep it civil. Be respectful of other member’s opinions. It's great to disagree but personal attacks or harassment will not be tolerated. Also, do not reveal any personal information about any other member without their knowledge or consent... violation of this rule may result in an immediate ban. Definitions from Wikipedia are as follows:

o Trolling - Forum trolls are users that repeatedly and deliberately breach the netiquette of an established online community, posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages to bait or excite users into responding or to test the forum rules and policies, and with that the patience of the forum staff. Their provocative behavior may potentially start flame wars or other disturbances. Responding to a troll's provocations is commonly known as 'feeding the troll' and is generally discouraged, as it can encourage their disruptive behavior.

o Spamming - a breach of netiquette where users repeat the same word or phrase over and over, but differs from multiple posting in that spamming is usually a willful act which sometimes has malicious intent. This is a common trolling technique. It can also be traditional spam, unpaid advertisements that are in breach of the forum's rules.

o Flaming - When a thread—or in some cases an entire forum—becomes unstable the result is usually uncontrolled spam in the form of one-line complaints or abuse of the report system. When the discussion becomes heated and sides do nothing more than complain and not accept each other's differences in point of view, the discussion degenerates into what is called a flame war. To flame someone means to go off-topic and attack the person rather than their opinion. Likely candidates for flame wars are usually religion and socio-political topics, or topics that discuss pre-existing rivalries outside the forum (e.g.: rivalry between games, console systems, car manufacturers, nationalities, etc.)

Posting will not be allowed until a club application has been received. From the date of your application, you will have six months to give us a try and let us get to know you, as you will get to know us.
• Post in the correct forum. If you are unsure which forum to start your thread under, post it under whatever you think most suits it. A moderator will move the thread to the correct forum if necessary.
• No cross posting. Post your message once or it will be locked or deleted without warning.
• Use a title that describes the content of your post. Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention.
• Please don’t post just to increase your number of posts. If you have nothing to say on a certain matter then do not post at all. The number of posts on this board has no direct relation to the experience of a member. Also try not to post one word replies.
• Political and religious debates do not have a place on this site; please refrain from discussing these topics.

• Any posts that encourage illegal intent will be removed and the account disabled.
• If you have a personal problem with another member, please discuss it in private. This board is not the place to speak out against others.
• Attacks on administrators will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate ban. If a problem arises with a member of the administrative team, please contact another member of the administrative team to voice your concern. Do not use this forum as a soapbox for any problems that you have with a member of the administrative team.
• This site uses the user infraction system that is built into Vbulletin. Each infraction carries a set number of points. Once a member gets enough infractions to go over the point limit they are automatically banned by Vbulletin. Users may get an infraction for everything from sigs being too big to flaming or trolling. Sig violations won't get a user banned just be aware that it means your sig is too big and needs to be sized down. Most other infractions will result in a ban if you get enough infractions to go over the limit.

See next post for Sanctions...
